Toby was surrendered into rescue because his previous owner no longer had time for him and moving to a smaller apt. Toby is very sweet boy, he does not do well with children hanging on him and teens running in and out of the home. He would be ok with older teens 16 and up. He needs a dog savy person, as he can be grumpy at times when he wants to do something and gets stubborn, you have to re-direct his attention with treats or toys, no forcing this big boy to do something. He really loves to be with people and is a real protector of his family so he does need to feel that you are alpha or he will take over. He listens, knows speak, sit, shake and down he will take treats from your hand very gently, he loves other dogs, especially female bullies he used to live with one. He is very good on the house trained potty issues. He barks when he needs to go potty and used to going out about 2 to 3 times a day for potty. Toby needs to be introduced to people that come into the home slowly and his foster home is working on desensitizing him to people in and out of the home, his previous owner let him control everyone who came in and out of the home. Toby needs to realize that you are the alpha and you call the shots not him. Toby needs someone who will understand a bullie that was used to getting his way and he is learning to give up the alpha role to his human, he will love you always and loves to lay on your lap or beside you on the sofa watching T.V he looks like a big hamster by your side.. hahaha. Toby likes car rides and walks, he is friendly on walks the whole protective attitude is only in his home.
